About the Job
- Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for component repair processes and provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams.
- Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) standards and actively support the Company's Zero Harm programme.
- Identify product safety risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures in accordance with the Company's Safety Management System.
- Promote a zero-defect culture by developing, implementing, and continuously improving manufacturing processes that support Right First Time (RFT) quality. Support quality investigations, corrective actions, and maintain compliance with NADCAP accreditation requirements.
- Develop, validate, and deploy manufacturing processes and methods, including supplier processes, to achieve Right First Time delivery using Lean, SPS, DMAIC, and Systems Engineering methodologies.
- Manage First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), and manufacturing source and method changes within the assigned area of responsibility.
- Investigate and resolve manufacturing and process-related issues, including strip/build, balancing, runout, in-situ repair, component repair processes, and issues involving key production equipment and tooling (e.g. ITT, VTL, BTG, Wash, FTB, CMM), while restoring and maintaining process standards.
- Support the achievement of operational cost targets by improving productivity and reducing the Cost of Non-Quality (CONQ).
- Deploy, sustain, and continuously improve company's Operating System standards in collaboration with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
- Act as the technical authority for manufacturing engineering and process requirements, providing sound technical decisions and guidance within the assigned area.
- Develop and maintain Manufacturing Execution System (MES) process plans for component repair activities and serve as the focal point for MES implementation and stakeholder coordination.
- Manage and monitor digitisation projects for repair instructions, ensuring milestones and project timelines are achieved.
- Identify, evaluate, and implement continuous improvement and innovation initiatives to enhance manufacturing capability, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.
- Support the introduction of new products and manufacturing capabilities by ensuring production readiness, process capability, tooling, and technical documentation are established before implementation.
- Develop and maintain Production Technical Packages, including technical instructions, CNC programmes, tooling, and manufacturing documentation, ensuring compliance with quality, cost, delivery, and lead-time requirements.
- Utilise real-time manufacturing data and analytics to monitor process capability, support data-driven decision-making, and drive continuous improvement across operations and the supply chain.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Aeronautical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Good knowledge of high-bypass gas turbine engines and component repair processes, including welding, machining, painting, and coating.
- Good communication, analytical, engineering, and project management skills.
- Good technical problem-solving skills with knowledge of Six Sigma or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Ability to manage technical projects and work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
- Experience in developing repair instructions and repair schemes.
