Process Safety Engineer

Support the design-phase process safety activities for a project within an API pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.

The successful candidate will be responsible for scribing and documenting HAZOP, PHA, and related risk assessment workshops, and will provide broader process safety engineering support to the project team throughout the design phase.

• Act as lead scribe for HAZOP, LOPA, PHA, and other process safety workshops, capturing deviations, causes, consequences, safeguards, and recommendations in real time using standard worksheet software.
• Prepare, format, and issue HAZOP/PHA worksheets, node summaries, and action item registers for review and closeout tracking.
• Support pre-workshop preparation, including node breakdown, P&ID markup, and compilation of design data packages.
• Track and follow up on HAZOP/PHA recommendations and actions to closure, maintaining a live action register.
• Assist in the preparation of process safety documentation, including risk assessments, relief system scenario lists, and safety case inputs.
• Coordinate with process, mechanical, instrumentation, and EHS engineers to ensure accurate technical capture during workshops.
• Support review of P&IDs, PFDs, and cause-and-effect diagrams for process safety completeness.
• Assist with quality checks and deduplication of large recommendation/action lists for project closeout tracking.
• Contribute to preparation of materials for regulatory submissions (e.g., MOM/WSH, SCDF) as required.
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering (or closely related discipline).
• Minimum 3-5 years' experience in process safety, with demonstrated experience scribing HAZOP/PHA workshops in the chemical, petrochemical, or pharmaceutical (API) industry.
• Working knowledge of HAZOP/PHA methodology and standard software tools (e.g., PHAWorks, or equivalent worksheet-based systems).
