Position Overview

This role is responsible for overseeing customs operations in Singapore (New Office), ensuring compliance with international trade regulations, and driving operational excellence across export processes. The position also leads a team and supports broader global trade compliance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Customs Operations Oversight

  • Manage end-to-end export customs processes to ensure timely and compliant shipment execution
  • Review and validate customs documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, declarations, and certificates
  • Ensure adherence to Singapore customs regulations and international trade requirements
  • Drive accuracy and consistency in customs filings and submissions

2. Team Leadership & Operational Management

  • Supervise and guide a team of customs specialists, including task allocation and performance management
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Provide training and mentorship to enhance team capability and productivity
  • Monitor team performance and ensure service level expectations are met

3. Trade Compliance & Risk Management

  • Stay updated on changes in customs regulations, trade laws, and international compliance standards
  • Identify potential compliance risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies
  • Lead or support internal and external audits, ensuring documentation readiness and compliance
  • Strengthen internal controls to minimize operational and regulatory risks

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as supply chain, finance, and regional teams
  • Coordinate with external parties including freight forwarders, customs brokers, and logistics partners
  • Address and resolve customs-related issues, delays, and discrepancies
  • Drive initiatives to improve shipment efficiency and overall logistics performance

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, International Trade, or related fields
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in customs operations, import/export, or trade compliance
  • Proven experience managing customs functions within manufacturing, trading, or multinational environments
  • Good knowledge of Singapore customs procedures, HS classification, and rules of origin
  • Familiarity with ERP/SAP systems
  • Excellent leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills
