R&D Laboratory Technician (Packaging) / Contract / Buona Vista

SUMMARY:
The candidate shall have some experience in scientific laboratory work performing validated test methods and be able to perform data analysis all under good manufacturing practices at customer site.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Primary Responsibilities – Material Preparation & Technical Testing
• Coordinate testing schedules and perform sample and material preparation for packaging-related technical evaluations.
• Conduct standard packaging tests accurately and within the required turnaround time, in accordance with applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Record test activities, observations, and results accurately and promptly in the Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN), ensuring good data integrity practices.
• Perform packaging-related testing, including but not limited to Compatibility Testing, Weight Loss Testing, Immersion Stress Cracking Testing, Environmental Stress Cracking Testing, Decoration-related testing, including Rub Test, Tape Test, and Soak & Squeeze Test, UV Fade Testing, Drop Testing, Torque Testing, Leak Testing, Shipping and E-commerce Transportation Testing, Temperature Cycling Testing, Label Peel Testing
• Provide relevant test data and information to support Out-of-Specification (OOS) and test failure investigations.
• Immediately communicate any testing deviations, equipment or instrumentation failures, abnormal test results, or other laboratory anomalies to the Team Leader.
• Follow established laboratory procedures and safety requirements when handling samples, materials, equipment, and test activities.
B. Secondary Responsibilities – Shipping Support
• Support shipping requests for packaging materials and samples.
• Prepare, label, organize, and coordinate packaging samples and materials for shipment as required.
• Ensure samples are appropriately identified and handled in accordance with applicable procedures.
C. General Responsibilities
• Manage and organize the storage of packaging samples, materials, and laboratory consumables.
• Maintain good housekeeping standards within the Package Development Laboratory and associated storage areas.
• Ensure equipment, materials, samples, and work areas are cleaned and returned to their designated locations after use.
• Support inventory organization and ensure laboratory materials and consumables are stored appropriately.
• Perform other laboratory or packaging development support activities as assigned.
D. Safety, Quality & Compliance
• Conduct all assigned activities in accordance with the organization's safety, quality, and compliance requirements.
• Follow applicable SOPs and established laboratory procedures at all times.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation and uphold data integrity requirements.
• Demonstrate commitment to laboratory safety, quality, accuracy, and good documentation practices.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering, Science, or a related technical discipline.
• Previous laboratory, testing, engineering, or packaging-related experience is a plus; however, training will be provided.
• Knowledge or hands-on experience with packaging test methods is a plus
• Able to perform testing accurately, consistently, and within required timelines.
• Good planning and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize assigned work independently and meet turnaround times.
• Systematic, detail-oriented, and committed to producing accurate and reliable work.
• Fast learner with the ability to understand and follow technical procedures and SOPs.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders from different cultures and organizational levels.
• Able to work independently in a laboratory environment and perform effectively under time pressure.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Awareness of safety, quality, compliance, and data integrity requirements.
