Employment Legal Counsel, Contract

Summary
The Global Employment Law Team provides strategic and practical legal advice to Human Resources and business stakeholders globally and handles employment litigation matters in all regions where we operate. As a member of the APAC Employment Law Team, you will partner with HR stakeholders closely to provide day-to-day advice, guidance, and legal solutions and recommendations for countries across APAC (excluding China). You will work with a range of stakeholders and teams both across the region and globally.
Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day legal advice and support on APAC matters (excluding China) to HR teams based in the region and globally in relation to a broad range of employee and contingent workforce related issues;
- Draft and review employment-related agreements, policies and other documents, including offer letters, severance agreements, confidentiality agreements, employee handbooks, and incentive plans;
- Advise on topics such as employee handbooks, policies and procedures; recruitment and hiring; global mobility; workplace health and safety; employee relations; performance management; discipline and terminations; investigations; disputes and litigation; leaves of absence; compensation and benefits; discrimination; harassment; and confidentiality;
- Support and provide advice on strategic cross-border employment law initiatives, including collaboration with other employment lawyers and SMEs.
- Provide strategic advice and guidance relating to employment law issues for new business lines and markets in APAC.
- Manage all aspects of employment disputes in the region, as needed, including e-discovery, fact-finding and analysis, witness preparation, case management conferences, motion practice, and arbitration or trial preparation and presentation.
- Create and lead training on APAC employment law issues
Requirements:
- 3+ years of solid employment law experience; Qualified to practice law in any jurisdiction within the APAC region / 3+ years of solid employment law experience, both as a private practice lawyer and an in-house legal counsel;
- A proven ability to analyze employment law matters of all levels of complexity, and exercise sound judgment in balancing legal risks and business needs, providing practical legal advice and recommendations
- Team player, people skills and ability to engage on all levels of the organization
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to ascertain internal client's interests and make an impact
