  • Overall responsibility for leading the tender process on quotes and Level 1 tenders, from receipt of ITT to handover to project execution.
  • The Proposal Specialist must demonstrate that due diligence has been followed with respect to the delivery schedule and costing, and obtain management approvals in line with tender governance rules.
  • The Proposal Specialist is also the main tendering point of contact for the customer and manages the response to all tender bulletins and requests for clarifications.
  • The Proposal Specialist is responsible for the efficient handover to project execution following contract award.
  • Process quotations in SAP in compliance with Cameron's mandatory processes and procedures and in accordance with the customer's instructions.
  • When necessary, facilitate and lead a tender kick off meeting.
  • Understand manufacturing capabilities of plants and develop the best manufacturing plan for the basis of the quotation/tender.
  • For quotes and Level 1 tenders use experience and historical data to develop a cost estimate, in line with the requirements of the customer's request.
  • Working with Engineering to ensure comprehensive assessments of costs are made.
  • A proactive approach to gaining information from Engineering and other sources in order to establish the best estimates in a timely manner.
  • Where historical data is deemed not appropriate for developing a cost estimate, request current prices and delivery from Cameron approved vendors and follow-up on requested quotes, negotiating best prices and delivery.
  • Work with planning department to obtain equipment lead times, where standard lead times do not meet the customer requirements.
  • Identify all input needed to complete the quote/tender and ensure Requests for Input are issued to the responsible parties.
  • Monitor progress of the requested input and take ownership for resolving conflicts/issues that arise.
  • Compile supporting documentation and commercial assumptions.
  • Create P&L for approval, with support of the Sales Lead for market pricing information.
  • Take the lead role in obtaining the necessary management approvals at the various stages of the quote/tender cycle in line with the approval matrix (GOA).
  • Perform reviews of the quote/tender deliverables, check alignment with the customer requirements and where necessary and seek amendments.
  • Maintain costing and pricing databases.
  • Provide and facilitate an efficient handover to execution upon contract award.
  • Where workload dictates provide support in the development of costs for intercompany quotations and Level 2+ tenders.
  • Support with cross checking of peers work and assist with department training and development as requested by the Manager of Proposals.
  • Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related field is preferable.
  • Experience in bidding, tendering and/or sales
  • Knowledge of SAP be able to process quotations and interrogate SAP in order to assist with the creation of quotes and simple tenders.
  • Good working knowledge of Excel be able to use excel templates to create detailed quotations and P&L's.
  • Good understanding of the technical products and be able to create a simple BOM.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Understanding and appreciation of commercial terms and be able to evaluate commercial exposure.
  • Analysis and Preparation of Key Information for Pricing Approvals by presenting a P&L and financial summary
